Wayne Rooney, who captained Manchester United on the day in question, arrived for training the following day to find his teammates dancing in the changing rooms. He recalled the incident on the Stick to Football podcast, expressing his views on the changing behavior in football at the time. Rooney highlighted an occasion after a defeat against Liverpool in 2014 when he witnessed his teammates dancing in the dressing room the next day, which he considered a sign of the changing culture in football. Reflecting on this, Gary Neville also mentioned a separate incident involving Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba dancing in the dressing room from a different match a few years later, to which Rooney responded with amusement, suggesting a shift in football culture.
