The Rhydycar West project, located in Merthyr Tydfil, is set to transform the area into a major tourist hotspot with the addition of a ski slope and tropical water park. The ambitious project is projected to create approximately 1,500 jobs during its construction phase and around 800 permanent positions once it’s operational. Unveiled on Tuesday, the latest CGI images reveal the proposed layout of the resort, which will be situated near the A470 at Rhydycar Roundabout.
Marvel Ltd owns the land, and it is expected that the project will contribute approximately £38.1 million annually to the economy. However, unexpected setbacks have kept the scheme on the drawing board. A representative for the initiative stated that they have been closely working with Merthyr council and other stakeholders in connection with the planning application.
This has involved responding to requests for additional information, preparing reports and surveys, and ongoing collaboration with the council and national stakeholders. The team acknowledges the significant anticipation and excitement surrounding the project, emphasizing their eagerness to conclude the planning process as soon as possible.
