The game was halted for 25 minutes, and in the 70th minute, the referee decided to abandon it. Fans were left uncertain about whether the match would be replayed or if the result would stand.
The National League has made an unprecedented decision to award Slough all three points, even though the goals scored during the abandoned match would not count towards their goal difference. The statement from the National League confirmed that the match would not be replayed and that the decision was in line with league rules. Initially, Slough boss Scott Davies criticized the decision to abandon the game, stating that the fan was “fine” within five minutes of the incident.
He further accused Bath of refusing to restart the match, despite match officials being willing to do so. Bath City, currently sixth in the table, are vying for a play-off spot for promotion. Slough, on the other hand, are in 12th place and have a comfortable 15-point lead over the relegation zone.
