The weather forecast for the upcoming days indicates a rise in temperatures to 21C in certain parts of the country on Friday and Saturday, but a cold front is expected to arrive on Sunday. Forecasts suggest that these cold conditions might persist and lead to unseasonal snow later in the month.
By 6pm on April 23, a blizzard is projected to stretch from Gloucestershire, across the West Midlands, and into the East Midlands. The city of Coventry could be heavily impacted, with snowfall expected at a rate of around 2.5cm per hour.
The snow is then predicted to move southeastward, gradually becoming less intense in the early hours of April 24. However, London might still experience remnants of the blizzard by 6am.
Looking ahead to April 15 to 28, the forecast indicates the development of a ridge of high pressure west of the UK in the North Atlantic, leading to a chillier north-westerly flow. Temperatures are expected to dip below normal in some areas, with a mixture of sunny spells and showers.
Wintry conditions are likely over the hills and possibly at lower levels in Scotland for a certain period.
