The 21-year-old opened the scoring on Monday (April 15) with a left-footed strike outside the box after a silky one-two with Nicolas Jackson. It took Palmer just five minutes before grabbing his second of the game as he headed home into an empty net after Mykhailo Mudryk’s strike was saved by Jordan Pickford with the ball placing itself in front of the attacking midfielder.
The third was his 19th Premier League goal of the season and 22nd in all competitions as fans on social media urged his selection for England’s Euro 2024 squad with one X (formerly Twitter) fan writing: “Get yourself on the plane to Germany Cole Palmer” as another added: “Cole palmer has got to be on the plane! Especially ahead of rashford!”
