Minister Turki Alalshikh has announced that ‘The Rocket’ will dedicate the next three years to promoting the sport of snooker and nurturing young talent in the Middle East. This initiative will include interviews with current players, snooker legends, pundits, TV presenters, and other figures involved in the sport. During this year’s World Championship, no player managed to claim the £400,000 prize for potting the new 23rd Golden Ball. As a result, the value of this ball will now double.
The Minister has also posed a question to the public, asking if they would be willing to pay to attend a snooker event in Saudi Arabia. Ronnie O’Sullivan, a prominent figure in snooker, has expressed his enthusiasm for the sport’s growth in Saudi Arabia. He aims to contribute to the development of the sport and coach young talent in the country. O’Sullivan is also looking forward to participating in significant events in Saudi Arabia and collaborating with Minister Turki Alalshikh.
O’Sullivan, who is seeking his eighth world title this year, has previously favored playing in China over British venues. However, he has now shown a keen interest in the opportunities presented in Saudi Arabia, describing his experience in Riyadh earlier this year as “amazing.” The goal is to establish a strong presence for snooker in Saudi Arabia and foster a new generation of talent, with the hope of producing a future World Snooker Champion.
