Rovers defender Dominic Hyam made a seemingly innocent back pass to Pears, the goalkeeper, but a horrendous blunder led to the away side’s third goal. The ball traveled to Pears at a slow speed with no pressure from attackers, but he made a comical gaffe as he attempted to clear it, resulting in an embarrassing own goal. Fans immediately recognized the similarities of Pears’ blunder to Peter Enckelman’s famous goalkeeping error in 2002.
