As for the Sporting manager, there has been no progress or approach from Liverpool. Slot, who led Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title last season and secured the Dutch Cup this term by defeating NEC, has received support from Dutch football legend Marco van Basten. Van Basten expressed his hope for Slot to stay in the Netherlands longer, stating that it is enriching for Dutch football.
Despite this, he believes that Slot has the potential to succeed anywhere, including clubs like Bayern Munich and Liverpool. Van Basten added that he has spoken with Slot a few times and praised his management of players, tactical prowess, calmness, and intelligence. According to Van Basten, Slot is a top trainer and possesses the ability to excel at any club, even difficult ones, due to his clever choice of words.
