A man was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after the death of ice hockey player Adam Johnson. Johnson, 29, lost his life in a tragic incident in which his throat was slashed by the skate blade of an opposition player during a match on October 28, 2023. The incident occurred during a Challenge Cup clash at the Sheffield Arena in front of over 8,000 spectators, where Johnson was playing for Nottingham Panthers.
Despite the efforts of rink side medics and players from both teams, he later succumbed to his injuries in hospital. The man arrested in connection with Johnson’s death has been re-bailed as the investigation continues.
