Oleksandr Zinchenko and Ben White were involved in a heated confrontation at the end of the match. Despite the quick consecutive goals by Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka that seemed to secure the win for the Gunners, Taiwo Awoniyi’s late goal for the opposing team set up a tense finish, which Arsenal managed to survive. Following the final whistle, tensions rose and teammates were required to intervene and separate Zinchenko and White as they left the pitch at the City Ground. However, Arteta, the manager, viewed the incident positively, considering it as a display of determination from his defenders.
Arteta stated, “That’s pushing each other and being not happy conceding and I have to encourage that and promote it in the right way and a respectful way. Sometimes after the game it’s emotional and heated but I love that the players are pushing each other and demanding excellence.”
The altercation between Zinchenko and White sparked discussions about their clash at the end of the game, while Pep Guardiola’s team could potentially move up to second place if they win against Burnley at the Etihad.
