Shared Room with Pep Guardiola: Never Thought He’d Become the Manager He is – Daily Star

Albert Ferrer made his first team debut in 1990, a few months before Guardiola moved up to the senior stage. During that time, he built a close relationship with Guillermo Amor and Pep Guardiola. He even shared a room with Guardiola for a couple of seasons, and they played in the Olympics for Spain together in 1992, winning the gold medal.

Reflecting on Guardiola, Ferrer expressed great affinity for him and noted that although they didn’t foresee his current managerial success back then, they could sense his leadership qualities, especially when he was playing in the middle of the pitch. After retiring from football in 2003, Ferrer took a break for a year before transitioning to coaching, which provided him a close connection to the game. He also enjoys working as a pundit.

For more insights, you can listen to Albert Ferrer’s episode of LALIGA Talks on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts from Thursday, 8th February.
