Davor Suker’s spell in England was slightly underwhelming. Years later, in 2011, on a flight back to the Gunners’ home of London from Milan, a strange incident saw Suker fined over the apparent theft of some antique coins. Coming across some antique coins on the plane, Suker thought he’d hold onto them, despite them having been left by another passenger who alerted staff.
Anyone on the plane was asked to report any information on these coins’ whereabouts, but the striker did not. Instead, he gave them to a friend once he’d left the flight. The antiques, which were worth up to €25,000, were returned and Suker was fined over €7000.
With the money he’d amassed over his career his actions didn’t make much sense, and perhaps symbolise the torrid time the great goalscorer had during his spells in London.
