The Ziegfeld Ballroom hosted a fashion event on Sunday featuring models who walked the catwalk wearing nothing but unconventional materials. Black tape was used to contour the models’ bodies, creating visual effects. The tape was also wrapped around their arms and calves to create kinky cuffs and anklets.
The designer replaced traditional clothing with an array of different tapes, including mirrored and metallic materials. This unique approach has garnered a following of 560,000 on the brand’s Instagram page over the past decade.
The designer was inspired to develop this idea further after experimenting with tape on models. They expressed how some models looked like “2 Christmas hams wrapped in rubber bands” but were nonetheless motivated to pursue this innovative concept. In the following weeks, the designer asked some models they had worked with in the past to allow them to practice and refine their technique.
