Levison Wood, a British Army officer and explorer known for his 11 best-selling books, recently engaged in a social media dispute with a fellow adventurer. The disagreement began when Wood was promoting walking tours through the Wakhan Corridor in north eastern Afghanistan. This corridor stretches eastward, connecting Afghanistan to Xinjiang, China.
During this exchange, a follower mentioned a “Westerner” who was captured by the Taliban and implied that the individual had a positive experience with the armed group. In response to this comment, Wood referred to the young individual as a “complete idiot.” It is worth noting that this is not the first time Wood has clashed with this particular explorer.
In a previous exchange with this individual, there was disagreement over historical walks through the corridor. The 23-year-old had claimed that nobody had walked the corridor since 1947. The social media spat between these two adventurers highlights the differing perspectives and experiences within the exploration community.
