Mauritania forward, France-born Doukara, joined Elland Road in 2014 and made 82 appearances for Leeds, scoring 14 goals. He was retroactively handed an eight-game suspension for violent conduct and fined £5,000. At the time of the incident, Leeds only had nine games left to play that season. The country qualified for its first AFCON competition in 2019 but made group-stage exits in each of its first two appearances. Doukara didn’t play a major role in that run and only came off the bench in one of the country’s three group games. The Lions of Chinguetti face Cape Verde on Monday hoping to extend their record run. This could be a career-defining moment for Doukara, potentially overshadowing his darker days so far.
