Alexander Buttner, the full-back, had a tough childhood growing up in a caravan on a council estate near the Dutch-German border. The community celebrated with pride when he first moved to Old Trafford, with United posters and red bunting used for decoration, and live music and firework displays organized to mark the occasion.
The family members proudly mentioned that they went through a large amount of beer, lager, and spirits during the celebration. A neighbor, Manus, expressed pride in Buttner and highlighted his exceptionality in the community for never having touched a bottle of beer.
Buttner himself expressed gratitude for the celebration, acknowledging it as a marvellous event and expressing how it brought everyone together to celebrate his move. There were even plans for the community to travel to Old Trafford to support Buttner once he had broken into the first-team.
However, Buttner left Manchester United in 2014 and currently plays for De Graafschap in the Dutch second tier.
