Manchester United’s football director John Murtough “steps down” as Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s revolution continues – Daily Star

The United official has been with the club for more than 10 years. Initially, his primary focus was on the scouting and academy departments at the club. Deputy football director Andy O’Boyle, director of football operations David Harrison and director of football negotiations Matt Hargreaves worked closely with Murtough during his time there.

In 2016, he became United’s first ever football director, which essentially put him at the helm of the men’s, women’s and academy teams. At first, it appeared Murtough may be offered a new role at the club. Fletcher is expected to remain at the club as technical director, but he will likely be offered an alternative title to stay at Old Trafford.

It’s understood the club are still trying to reach an agreement with the Saints regarding compensation. Next is the question: What is your reaction to this news?
