Pregnant woman finds second-floor apartment stairs missing – Daily Star

Kassidy Chappell, who’s 12 weeks into her pregnancy, faced a bizarre hurdle as she needed to get to an important doctor’s appointment but found the stairs suddenly removed. In a twist straight out of a sitcom, she ended up having to use a ladder to get down. “I just happened to glance up right before I would have gone down the stairs, and they were gone.

They were completely just not there,” Kassidy recounted. “There was nothing blocking the staircase, it was just a drop.” The timing was particularly inconvenient for Kassidy, who was all set for an ultrasound scan and also needed to take her dog out.

The heroes of the hour were workers from Quail Lakes Apartments, who came to the rescue with a ladder. “It probably took them about 30 minutes to bring the ladder,” Kassidy explained. “They didn’t notify us at all about the stairs being gone,” she added.

Following her ordeal and media attention, Kassidy received an apology from the apartment management, who promised to discuss the issue with the contractors responsible for the stair removal. One user, Olivia Crump, went viral after sharing a video of a missing staircase that left her stranded in her flat for hours. It’s not clear from the footage, but it seems Olivia resides on the third floor.

Strangely, only one set of stairs is absent, leaving Olivia baffled. “When your apartment removes the stairs without warning and you’re stuck for hours,” she captioned the clip. The stairs were apparently removed by management for several hours for repairs, without any notice given to the residents.

Despite the inconvenience, Olivia didn’t seem too bothered as she had no urgent need to leave her flat. However, she did inform her followers that the stairs were her only exit route. “Most buildings in the U.S. need two exits,” one user pointed out.

“I’m gonna say this is a joke.” Despite some skepticism, it appeared that most viewers believed Olivia’s tale. “That is crazy unsafe,” one user commented.

“That doesn’t seem safe,” another agreed. “Call the fire marshal,” suggested another. The discussion then turned to issues of accessibility, with one user sharing a personal story similar to Olivia’s predicament.

“I’m in a wheelchair,” he revealed. “And one time my university removed the sidewalk to the only entrance to the building with an elevator and put a 5-foot trench there.”
