Professional soccer player acquitted of sexual assault in a dating app case signs with a new team – Daily Star

A 23-year-old footballer, Jack Diamond, who was cleared of allegations of raping and sexually assaulting a woman he met on a dating app, has joined a new club. The allegations stemmed from an incident at his house in Fatfield, in Washington, Sunderland, in May 2022. Diamond and the woman had met on dating app Tinder and had agreed to be “friends with benefits”. Prosecutors claimed Diamond forced himself on the woman after agreeing that “nothing more than cuddling would happen.” However, Diamond testified that all sexual activity between them had been consensual and that the woman had initiated full sex, which he refused. After a short deliberation, a jury found him not guilty of both charges.

Now looking to resume his football career, Diamond has joined a new club. The club’s chief executive, Nigel Clibbens, has expressed the importance of acknowledging the recent acquittal and setting out the club’s position. He emphasized that Diamond has been cleared of all charges and highlighted the difficult period he has gone through.

The club stands by the judicial process and believes it is the right thing to support Diamond in moving forward. Clibbens hopes for the fans’ full support for Diamond as he resumes his football career.
