Frank Skinner, together with David Baddiel and the Lightning Seeds, created the iconic song “Three Lions” for the England national team almost 30 years ago. Skinner now believes it’s time to replace the song with a fresh melody, as he feels the song has run its course. He suggested that the Football Association should already have someone lined up to create a new anthem for England.
Skinner also expressed his surprise at the enduring popularity of “Three Lions.” Despite the song’s longevity and its reemergence during major tournaments, he feels it’s time for a new tune. The idea of replacing such an iconic song may upset some fans, but Skinner remains firm in his belief that it’s time for a change.
As England’s manager Gareth Southgate is likely to move on, it’s unlikely that the song will disappear entirely.
