Legendary striker Trevor Francis reportedly left £1.9 million to his heirs, but none of it will go to his sons, James and Matthew, who were cut out of his will in 2019, as they are not financially dependent on him. The reason for the family rift has not been disclosed, but the sons reportedly attended Francis’s funeral in Marbella, Spain, where their father spent much of his later life. The British estate, which will go to his sibling, does not reportedly include his apartment near Marbella. Trevor Francis is best known for his time as a striker, during which he shattered the British transfer record when he was bought by Forest for £1.15 million in 1979.
He then headed the only goal in the European Cup final against Malmo in Munich a few months later. In 1990, he moved to Sheffield Wednesday before replacing Ron Atkinson as manager. In 1996, he returned to Birmingham, reaching the playoffs three times and the 2001 League Cup final, where they lost to Liverpool.
