Traore played for the Parisiens between 2006 and 2012, where he ended his career, before moving into boardroom roles within football. The 20-time Mali international is now a sporting director at fourth-tier French side US Creteil Lusitanos.
It was during an U16 match against Racing Club De France on March 23 that Traore’s conduct towards the match official overshadowed a 2-1 defeat. Traore reportedly insulted the referee and entered the pitch again after the final whistle, where he became aggressive and threatening towards officials, having to be restrained by one of his club’s coaches.
Traore denied the allegations against him, insisting he was not a problem to the officials, despite the contrast stated in the report. He claimed that his attitude was not disrespectful, but it was determined that he did not provide enough evidence to convince the commission that the referee’s version of events was incorrect.
As a result, he was handed an increased ban, and the club was fined €50 (£43) following the controversy. The suspension came into effect on April 8, with Traore now set to be away from matches for several months.
Traore was formerly a youth player at US Creteil Lusitanos before he joined Nice in 2002, and later PSG where he won the French Cup in 2010.
