Non-league manager faces cocaine supply charge after taking leave for personal reasons – Daily Star

Redditch United manager Matt Clarke has been charged with drug supply after stepping back from his role for ‘personal reasons’ in February. The 50-year-old is accused of being concerned in the supply of cocaine and cannabis, as well as possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and criminal damage to property valued under £5,000.

Clarke appeared at Hereford Magistrates’ Court on February 14 alongside two co-defendants, who face similar charges. He’s due to appear before a judge for a plea and trial preparation hearing at Worcester Crown Court on May 7.

At this stage, we anticipate this to be a short break. He later played for Redditch, Kidderminster Harriers, Hereford and Telford United during his playing days.

Since taking charge of Halesowen and Evesham before he re-joined Redditch as manager four years ago. Redditch currently sit just outside of the play-offs on goal difference behind Stratford Town with just two games to go.

However, if it wasn’t for a drop in form in March and early April, where the Reds lost six consecutive games, their final two matches of the season against Barwell and champions Needham Market wouldn’t be such crucial games.
