Athlete Consumes 4,200 Calories a Day in Pursuit of Olympic Gold – Daily Star

One Paris 2024 hopeful, Emily Campbell, has undergone a significant physical transformation in pursuit of Olympic glory. Weighing around 130 kilograms, she has increased her calorie intake to 4,200 calories a day, more than double the recommended amount for women. Despite training only once a day, Campbell maintains that eating is a crucial part of her job as a weightlifter. She has the support of a leading nutritionist, Dr Sinead Roberts, who coordinates her meals from morning to night.

Campbell also receives nutritional support from Aldi, where she serves as an ambassador. This support has been crucial, especially since Campbell was previously self-funded and had to rely on her own expertise and guesswork. She admitted to encountering challenges when attending events with limited food options, but has adapted to managing her diet effectively. Despite facing criticism and disbelief from others about her dietary requirements, Campbell remains committed to her regimen.

Looking ahead to the Paris 2024 Olympics, Campbell is eager to take advantage of the support she will receive from the Nearest & Dearest programme provided by Aldi. She emphasized the importance of having her family’s support and looks forward to finally experiencing a proper Olympics, with her loved ones able to watch her compete in person.
