BBC Breakfast presenter admits feeling “selfish” for having baby at 41 amid concerns about pregnancy.

BBC Breakfast star Rachel Burden recently shared that she made a “selfish decision” to get pregnant at 41, resulting in her baby weighing just 3lbs. Prior to her pregnancy, Rachel and her husband, Luke Mendham, had discussions about having another child.

Looking back, Rachel feels her decision was ‘selfish’ due to the complications she faced during her pregnancy. Now 49, Rachel has labeled herself as “arrogant” for assuming that her fourth pregnancy would be as smooth as her previous ones.

She had three straightforward pregnancies and wanted a big family, but a few months into her fourth pregnancy, she knew something wasn’t right. Rachel gave birth to her baby, Henry, at just 31 weeks, making him premature.

Thankfully, Henry arrived healthy and happy, but only weighed 3lbs. Rachel emphasized the fragility of premmy babies and expressed gratitude for the care they received during the eight weeks it took for Henry to come out of the hospital.
