British boxing champion Willie Limond, aged 45, passes away shortly before planned return to the ring – Daily Star

Boxer Willie Limond has tragically passed away at the age of 45, just a week after he experienced a suspected seizure in his car. Limond had a successful career in the ring, winning 42 out of 48 bouts and securing titles such as the EBU European Union super featherweight title, the Commonwealth lightweight and super-lightweight titles, and the British super-lightweight title. A few hours before a public training session, Limond was found unresponsive in his car and rushed to the hospital, where he ultimately passed away on April 15. Many in the boxing community expressed their sadness over the loss, with Curtis Woodhouse and others sharing their tributes on social media.

In a notable bout, Limond faced Amir Khan and managed to send him down to the canvas, earning the respect of fans despite ultimately losing the fight. Limond was scheduled to return to the ring the following month for a bout against Joe Laws at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow on May 3. Tragically, Limond was found unresponsive in his car before an open workout, which he had promoted on Instagram just days before his passing. His message to fans, encouraging them to come watch him, now serves as a poignant reminder of the sudden and unexpected nature of his passing.
