Darts Championship runner-up admits: “I’m almost done with the sport now” – Daily Star

Simon Whitlock, 55, has had a successful career, having been the runner-up at the 2010 PDC Darts World Championship and the 2008 BDO’s iteration. However, after more than a decade in the sport, Whitlock has admitted that he might be finished with darts. Despite this, he recently participated in a mini-tournament against seven top dart players, continuing to showcase his skills.

It was announced last year that the DRA intended to ban the use of aggressive points due to the damage they caused to dartboards. While this decision sparked debate, Whitlock expressed his opinion that the kind of points he uses does not damage the boards. He also noted the superiority of Winmau boards compared to Unicorn boards, stating that there’s no damage whatsoever.

Whitlock’s recent performance at the International Darts Open in Germany saw him being eliminated in the first round by Cameron Menzies, despite registering a respectable average of 92.39. Overall, Whitlock’s potential retirement from darts and his views on the use of dart points and the condition of dartboards have generated significant discussion within the darts community.
