The 28-year-old, who left Arsenal in 2014 following a three-year spell in north London, fell suddenly ill on February 20 and is currently on a ventilator due to a brain-related illness. He is under the care of a team of medical experts in Denmark, and is surrounded by his immediate family and members of his current team, Midtjylland.

The club has urged the public to show respect and understanding and to give the necessary peace of mind to ensure his healing and recovery. Both Midtjylland and Arsenal have expressed their support and condolences to the player and his family.

Kristoffer Olsson left Arsenal for Midtjylland at the end of the 2013-2014 season, and has since played for AIK, Krasnodar, and Anderlecht before rejoining Midtjylland in 2022. He has achieved success in Scandinavia, winning a league title during his first stint with Midtjylland and recording five assists in 20 appearances so far this season.

Despite not finding much success as a senior player at Arsenal, Olsson has found success in Scandinavia, winning silverware in both Denmark and his native Sweden.
