Grand National-winning jockey Graham Lee was recently seen in a wheelchair for the first time following a life-changing fall. He was pictured smiling alongside top trainer Henrietta Knight, who traveled five hours to visit him at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

Knight, who is back in training after a break, mentioned that Lee can only move his head and neck, but she was pleasantly surprised by his ability to talk and discuss things. She also stressed the importance of Lee having goals, such as participating in the London Marathon in a wheelchair to support the Injured Jockeys Fund.

Lee, who won the Grand National in 2004 and switched to Flat racing in 2014, suffered a serious spinal injury in November after falling from a horse at a Newcastle race. Despite his injuries, he remains determined to pursue his goals and raise money for the Injured Jockeys Fund.

A Just Giving page set up by Amy Lee to support the fund has already raised over £180,000. Knight expressed her admiration for Lee’s perseverance and emphasized the impact of the Injured Jockeys Fund in supporting him through his recovery.

Additionally, the text mentions Lee’s transition to darting, as he takes his talents around the UK and Europe to compete in the Premier League. The preview of the event spotlights Lee’s rise in the sport and features interviews with various players, including a column from James Wade and discussions with legends of the game.

The upcoming competition will see Lee face off against renowned names in the sport, such as Luke Humphries, Michael van Gerwin, and Peter Wright.
