Despite having a property in LA, Gareth Bale has been spending time back in Wales, where he owns a lush property in the Vale of Glamorgan. In a surprising move, the 34-year-old footballer was spotted at Big Sam’s chippy in Pontyclun with his friends, causing a stir among locals.
One person commented, “We were like – ‘you’re having a laugh’. Why would he be in Pontyclun of all places?
My sister said ‘it is actually him! It’s either a very good lookalike, or it’s actually him’.
My brother went and had a picture with him.” The locals treated Bale like any other customer, with one of them joking, “It’s not like we’re going to pounce on him every time he pops in!
If he ever shows up again, we feel really bad, we all acted a bit dramatic because we were so excited!” Despite the excitement, they found Bale to be genuinely interested in their community.
Raj, a local, mentioned that the encounter wasn’t very long, but Bale seemed friendly and even agreed to visit their family’s property above the chippy. Big Sam’s, a long-standing local eatery, offers a variety of food from fish and chips to kebabs, and has been serving the community for three decades.
