I co-own a Premier League team

Vincent Kompany, a legend of the Houston Texans, is facing a challenging time as his team seems likely to be relegated to the Championship. He expressed surprise at the high fees paid to agents by teams in the UK, noting that agent culture in the UK differs significantly from that in America, where there is a standard fee for all players and agents are not allowed to make more than 3% of a player’s contract.

Kompany questioned whether the Premier League gives too much money to agents, citing the astounding £409 million in agents’ fees paid by Premier League clubs since February 1, 2023. He also mentioned that FIFA’s attempts to impose a fee cap on commissions for transfers were overturned by a ruling in the UK, allowing agents to continue receiving high fees.

Kompany finds the agent culture in the UK fascinating and expressed his shock at the extent to which agents control and profit from transfers. This experience has been eye-opening for him, as he navigates the challenges of managing a team in the UK football landscape.
