Joe Kinnear, former Newcastle and Wimbledon boss, dies at 77; tributes pour in.

The news of the Irishman’s death was reported on Sunday (April 7) with a statement from his family tweeted by Mike Keegan. “He will be remembered fondly by many – both as a player and a manager”. “My thoughts are with Joe’s wife Bonnie and the Kinnear family .. RIP Gaffer”.

Following his stint with Nepal in 1987, it would be five years before Kinnear would become a manager again as he was appointed boss of Wimbledon in 1992. After a two-year break from football, Kinnear returned to management with Luton Town where he spent two years. He then became caretaker manager at Newcastle in 2008, where he is perhaps best remembered for an expletive-filled rant at journalists in a shocking press conference.
