Jose Mourinho is learning German ahead of his role as the next manager of Bayern Munich.

Bayern won’t be short of candidates if they do decide to make a change, and Mourinho, 61, wants to ensure he’ll be at the front of the queue should the axe swing. Mourinho has worked in Portugal, England, Italy, and Spain, but has never managed in Germany. Previously, he’d hinted he might like to coach in Saudi Arabia one day, declaring on Egyptian TV: “I will go to Saudi Arabia in some free time, but I am convinced that I will work there. I don’t know when, but I am pretty sure of it.

No one knows the future, but I will definitely do this [working in Saudi Arabia].” During his two-and-a-half year stint at Roma, Mourinho won the Conference League and led the team to the final of the Europa League, where they lost to Sevilla on penalties. He was sacked following a 3-1 defeat to Milan last month which left Roma ninth in the Serie A table. Would Mourinho be a success at Bayern?
