In February of this year, I began a consultancy agreement between NFFC and Referee Consultant Ltd. I worked diligently under this agreement, leveraging my extensive experience as a match official to aid NFFC in understanding the decision-making process related to key match incidents in the context of VAR. However, this role garnered unexpected and unjustified backlash from certain individuals and commentators, which I find regrettable.
Nevertheless, I maintain a sincere belief in the value of such a position in the contemporary game. I express my gratitude to NFFC and extend my best wishes to them for the remainder of the season and beyond. Prior to a match, I raised concerns to PGMOL boss Howard Webb about VAR official Stuart Attwell’s alleged support for Luton Town, a rival of Forest in the Premier League.
Following this, Forest felt that they were unfairly denied three clear penalties and insinuated in a statement that Attwell’s alleged allegiance to Luton had influenced his decisions. While I was not involved in the statement, its release led to a significant fallout. The Football Association and Premier League have since formally requested the club’s observations on the matter.
