Cunha had just put Wolves two goals to the good in the Black Country Derby when violence erupted in the 79th minute. Fans were forced to flee onto the field to avoid the violence, including several children who were hastily evacuated from the area. Commentator Sam Matterface noted: “We’re restricting what we are showing you as some of those scenes are undesirable. Derby day passion and intensity is great, but this sort of overspill is not acceptable in any sense. It’s getting really nasty.”

The FA have also released a statement: “Safety and security and of the utmost importance, and the behaviour of those involved is dangerous and inexcusable. “We will be investigating these serious incidents alongside the clubs and the relevant authorities, and the appropriate action will be taken.”
