Mauricio Pochettino claims VAR has harmed English football following ‘absurd’ Chelsea ruling – Daily Star

The match between two football teams ended with a late winning goal from Axel Disasi, which was subsequently overturned by the match referee, Craig Pawson, following a review on the pitch-side monitor. The decision to disallow the goal was based on the judgment that Benoit Badiashile had fouled Diego Carlos before setting up the goal for his fellow French teammate.

This decision left the Paris Saint-Germain coach, Mauricio Pochettino, visibly frustrated on the sidelines and continued to express his frustration during the post-match media duties. Pochettino shared his disappointment in an interview with TNT Sport, expressing that while a referee’s decision to disallow a goal and uphold it with VAR confirmation is acceptable, the situation becomes unacceptable when the referee did not see the incident and the decision is changed solely based on VAR review.

Pochettino’s dissatisfaction extended to his belief that the incident had impacted English football negatively. Additionally, the injury of experienced player Thiago Silva during the match added further concern for Pochettino’s team.

The match ended with controversy and frustration for the Paris Saint-Germain coach, who was critical of the decisions made and the potential impact on the team and English football.
