Ninth-tier football match marred by violent fan behavior as supporters breach segregation – Daily Star

The FA Vase clash between Stourport Swifts and Worcester City was temporarily halted on Saturday, February 10, due to violence between the two sets of supporters. The fans had been separated by metal fencing, which was not fixed and allowed some individuals to move it aside unnoticed by stewards and police, resulting in a physical altercation. Order was eventually restored in the River Severn Derby, with Worcester winning 5-1 to advance to the quarter-finals. West Mercia Police have initiated an investigation into the brawl, during which no arrests were made and no injuries were reported.

The police statement mentioned the disorder that broke out among fans inside the stadium, leading to the match being paused. They emphasized that the actions of a small minority should not detract from the event and indicated plans to collaborate with Stourport Swifts to gather facts and take appropriate action. Stourport Swifts echoed similar sentiments, expressing disappointment in having to address the actions of a minority of supporters. They assured the cooperation with Worcester City to assist the police in their investigation.
