Rare Kew Gardens 50p coin fetches hundreds of pounds with numerous bids on eBay

In 2009, a rare 100% genuine 2009 Kew Gardens 50p coin was released into the world. Recently, it was purchased for hundreds of pounds, over 310 times its face value.

Seven users were interested in acquiring it, resulting in a total of 15 bids. The coin reached the £100 mark just two days after it was listed for sale.

The seller described the coin as being in excellent circulated condition, and emphasized its rarity and appeal to serious coin collectors. They offered secure packaging and fully insured next day special delivery postage, charging an additional £6.85 for express delivery.

For those wondering whether they have a genuine Kew Gardens 50p coin, coin experts suggest checking for specific features. A real coin will have the Queen’s Head with the neck pointing at the “P” in “Pence”.

Additionally, the neck area on the heads side should feature the initials of British sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley (IRB). The rarity of the Kew Gardens 50p coin means it can sell for an average of £156.25, but in the past, it has reached the high price of £700 on eBay.
