Roy Hodgson falls ill during training; Crystal Palace gives health update – Daily Star

Roy Hodgson was reportedly on the brink of being sacked after falling ill during a morning training session. The 76-year-old’s condition was later confirmed to be stable, and he is currently undergoing tests in the hospital. Hodgson took over as manager in March last year following Patrick Vieira’s dismissal.

Reports suggest that Crystal Palace is in talks with former Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolfsburg coach Oliver Glasner as a potential replacement for Hodgson. The club has experienced a decline in performance since November, which has left them in a precarious position near the relegation zone. Hodgson described the current situation as the toughest period of his career, citing the fans’ growing dissatisfaction.

This is Hodgson’s second stint as manager of Crystal Palace, having previously managed the team from 2017 to 2021 before being replaced by Vieira. Hodgson has strong ties to the club, having been born near Selhurst Park and grown up as a Palace supporter.
