Ruby Walsh reveals the secret to winning the Grand National and shares his tip for the winner.

The Daily Star recently tested Ruby’s advice on the Equicizer, a mechanical horse used by jockeys for building strength and stamina. The rider’s experience on the simulator indicated the need for further coaching.

Ruby, a highly successful jockey with 2,500 wins, shared insights into the evolution of race briefings and his involvement in educating jockeys. By analyzing data from previous Grand Nationals, they discovered that going fast early in the race did not lead to success.

They also emphasized the importance of avoiding tight groups and seeking out space during the race. Unlike sports like football, jockeys lack statisticians to provide them with such data.

Ruby, along with other experienced jockeys, will be providing one-on-one tips and advice to several jockeys in preparation for the upcoming race. Ruby highlighted the necessity of briefings, especially for experienced jockeys, due to the unique nature of the Grand National.

He also explained that winning the race is seen as unattainable due to its difficulty. Finally, Ruby shared his hot tip for the upcoming race, expressing his admiration for a horse named Capodanno.
