Scheffler delivered an impressive four-under-par 68 in Sunday’s final round, fending off competitors like Ludvig Aberg, Max Homa, and Collin Morikawa to clinch his second Masters title. The world No. 1 started the final 18 holes of the week with a one-shot lead over Morikawa, who joined him in the final pairing. After kicking off with back-to-back pars, he scored a birdie three at the par-four third.

However, he lost this shot soon after, as his first mistake of the day came a hole later at four, bringing him back to seven-under for the week. As he fell back to six-under, he was soon forced to share his lead as Homa and Aberg made their move. This marked the continued rise of young Swede Aberg, who seemed right at home at Augusta despite it being his debut. Aberg kicked off his first nine holes with a three-under, sharing the lead and aiming to be the first man since Fuzzy Zoeller in 1979 to win the Masters on his debut.

However, his promising start hit a snag at the 11th hole. The European prodigy’s second shot into the green was overdrawn, landing in the water hazard on the left, resulting in a double bogey that pushed him back in the field. In contrast, Scheffler was on an upward trajectory, scoring three consecutive birdies between the eighth and tenth holes to secure a three-shot lead. Despite a bogey at the 11th, he bounced back with a birdie at the 13th, further solidifying his top position.

Aberg wasn’t backing down though, as he responded brilliantly to his setback at the 11th, scoring birdies at both the 13th and 14th holes after a par at the 12th, reducing Scheffler’s lead to just two shots. However, there’s a reason why Scheffler is the world No. 1. He demonstrated his prowess at the perfect moment by scoring easy birdies of his own at the 13th and 14th holes.

After a par at the 15th, he followed up with an impressive birdie two at the iconic 16th, effectively securing one arm in the green jacket. Unfazed, he headed to the 17th tee with a comfortable four-shot lead. After finishing with two pars on the scorecard, he was once again crowned the champion of Augusta National.
