Howson works alongside Ferdinand on his ‘FIVE’ YouTube channel and also regularly appears on the Stretford Paddock podcast, whose team he manages by the same name. Playing in an away game in Liverpool, Howson entered the pitch at full-time to confront the referee and opposition players. Footage uploaded to Howson’s Patreon page before being shared on Twitter saw Howson flick his head back from a headbutt by an opposition player.
Howson then threw two punches and a headbutt at another player before he was caught by a punch. Howson has since given his side of the story while sporting his black eye, claiming some of the opposition players had been sharing “fantasy versions of what happened” on social media, and insisting he was trying to “protect myself and my players”. He explained: “One of the opposition players tells me to get off the pitch and then headbutts me which is hilarious because they’ve all been in my social media today with just fantasy versions of what happened.
I will always protect myself and my players despite what little Scouse bells on social media want to say. I caught one… but we won the game 2-0. He added: “Yesterday there was probably four or five two-footed challenges in the first 20 minutes of our game.”
