US TV executive acknowledges desire to host Premier League season opening games in America – Daily Star

NBC recently secured exclusive rights to English football’s top-flight in a new six-year contract worth $450 million per season. This deal, finalized in 2022, is worth £360 million per season to the Premier League.

The network aims to continue growing the fanbase for English football in America by hosting the opening fixtures of a Premier League season in the United States. NBC’s chief echoed his enthusiasm for this, citing conversations with the Premier League as evidence of their receptiveness to the idea.

He also highlighted the success of previous games hosted in America, which saw 265,000 fans in attendance over nine games in seven days in five cities. In discussing the future possibility of hosting Premier League games in big American stadiums as part of the opening weekend, Miller expressed his eagerness for the idea to come to fruition.
