West Ham and Bayer Leverkusen in heated on-field scuffle, resulting in two red cards – Daily Star

After Michail Antonio scored a goal, reducing the Hammers’ two-goal deficit from the first leg, chaos ensued. This led to a melee involving most players and coaching staff, resulting in two red cards being shown by the referee.

The sideline incident between both benches resulted in a red card each, although neither were for Xabi Alonso or David Moyes. The situation escalated when Antonio and Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah clashed, sparking a brawl among the players.

It is yet to be determined whether the two incidents were related. After the match official had calmed the fury between the two sets of coaches, Antonio and Kossounou started wrestling and had to be separated by their team-mates.

Leverkusen, meanwhile, are still flying high after wrapping up their maiden Bundesliga title over the weekend. Alonso’s side went the entire season unbeaten, winning the title in style after producing a five-star performance against mid-table side Werder Bremen.
