The current 76,000-seater home of the Red Devils has been neglected by the Glazers for years and is now considered second-rate compared to other European stadiums. The owner, Ratcliffe, plans to invest £237m into Old Trafford, with a 25% stake in the club. Manchester City aims to defend their crown in the World’s biggest football tournament, with every game from the group stage to the final available for viewing.

Ratcliffe is contemplating seeking investment from the UK Government to help fund the upgrade of the stadium as part of the ‘Levelling Up’ pledges, seeing a ‘strong argument’ for the north to have a top-class venue. There’s a question directed to United fans about their preferences for the stadium’s look. While considering a new and improved stadium near Old Trafford, revamping the current structure is also an option, though it could take eight years and there are concerns about wasting money on the site.

Major improvements are anticipated to cost at least £800m, which is comparatively cheaper than building a new venue. Talks between Ineos and local political leaders in Manchester have commenced. Regular images and videos illustrate the decay at Old Trafford, with reports of roof leaks during bad weather and the stadium being overlooked for the Euros in favor of Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium.
