Arsenal Invincible Recalls Use of Russian Models as Bait to Exhaust Players – Daily Star

In the group stages of their 2003/04 Invincibles season, the Gunners faced Lokomotiv Moscow. The hosts attempted to wear down Arsenal’s players by planning to exhaust them the night before the match.

However, defender Cygan revealed that the team did not fall for the plan. According to Cygan, none of the players were gullible enough to play along, and the team emerged unscathed from the scheme.

Cygan, who had a wife and two daughters, shared that the opposing team’s strategy did not succeed in affecting Arsenal’s performance. Despite the attempt to tire them out, the Gunners remained focused and went on to avoid defeat in the match.

The 6ft 4in defender humorously recalled the incident, stating that the team later learned about the plan to tire them out before the game. He emphasized that none of the players were foolish enough to succumb to the trap.

The resilience and awareness of the Arsenal squad thwarted Lokomotiv Moscow’s effort to gain an advantage.
