Erik ten Hag, the current manager at Old Trafford, has expressed feelings of increasing isolation following the arrival of new investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Ratcliffe has implemented significant changes to the senior positions at the English club, resulting in a reduced circle of trust for Ten Hag.
This situation was compounded by the departure of director of football John Murtough and chief executive Richard Arnold, along with ongoing negotiations with Newcastle for Dan Ashworth, which United is reluctant to pay £20m in compensation for. These changes have left Ten Hag feeling like he no longer fits at the club, particularly since Manchester United is currently in sixth place in the table, trailing by 11 points for the Champions League places.
Ratcliffe has, notably, identified England’s national team manager Gareth Southgate as his preferred replacement for Ten Hag. However, recruiting Southgate may prove to be challenging, as he is currently focused on leading England’s campaign in the upcoming Euros in Germany.
Should there be a change in management at Manchester United, it begs the question, who should take over as the next manager? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
