Liverpool’s Brendan Rodgers era signing requests contract termination – Daily Star

After moving to Liverpool from Sevilla for £6 million, the Spaniard made only 12 first-team appearances over three years, with just two starts. Following a disappointing debut season, he was loaned out to Malaga and then to Deportivo La Coruna. Despite being a regular for Deportivo La Coruna, Liverpool decided to sell him to Lazio for £4.2 million in 2016.

During his eight years at Lazio, he made over 300 appearances and won the Coppa Italia. However, a recent defeat to Roma led Alberto to reconsider his future. He expressed this sentiment in an Instagram post, announcing that he had requested the termination of his contract with Lazio.

Despite his remaining three years on the contract, he felt it was time to step aside and allow others to take his place. Alberto expressed gratitude to the club and its fans, particularly those from the Curva Nord and the Tribuna Tevere. He conveyed his intention to continue working hard on the pitch until the last minute of his last match.

The timeline for Lazio to honor his request remains unclear.
