Mum killed by knife-wielding attacker at Westfield, throws bleeding baby to save infant – Daily Star

Two brothers who were present at the scene described the mother launching her wounded baby towards them, stating that she had been stabbed herself. They held the baby and attempted to administer first aid, with one brother also aiding the mother in stopping the bleeding. Emergency services quickly responded to the incident and arrived at around 3:45 pm local time.

In addition to the fatalities, multiple individuals sustained injuries, some of which are critical. New South Wales Police Commissioner Karen Webb reported that the baby was rushed into surgery that same evening. Authorities believe that the attacker was a 40-year-old man who they knew and who acted alone.

Commissioner Webb revealed that they have some information about the individual, but are awaiting confirmation of his identity. She also mentioned that the incident is not being treated as a terrorist attack and that the individual is known to law enforcement. President Anthony Albenese confirmed that he had been briefed on the situation.

Posting on the Kensington Royal account, a couple expressed their shock and sadness over the events in Sydney, extending their thoughts to all those affected, including the families of the victims and the emergency responders. They also made a point of acknowledging the ongoing investigation and expressing gratitude for the bravery of the first responders and emergency services involved in the incident.
