A 13-year-old girl has been charged with three counts of attempted murder after two teachers and a pupil were allegedly stabbed at a school in Wales. The alleged incident took place at Amman Valley School in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire, South Wales, on Wednesday (April 24).

The three people who were hurt at the school have been discharged from hospital, police have said. In a statement read outside Amman Valley School, Superintendent Ross Evans, of Dyfed-Powys Police, said: “Two teachers and a pupil were taken to hospital with stab wounds.

They have all since been discharged. “A 13-year-old-girl was arrested at the scene.

The second adult is reported to be Liz Hopkin, a special needs teacher. A spokesman for Rishi Sunak said the Prime Minister’s thoughts are with those injured.

Hundreds of parents were seen outside the school gates as a large police presence of 10 cars swarmed around the building after the incident. The school was locked down for the “safety of all on the premises”, police said at the time.

A teenage boy was arrested overnight on suspicion of making threats which referenced the stabbings at the school, Dyfed-Powys Police said. Police executed a warrant at the boy’s home, in the Cross Hands area, and recovered a BB gun.

Mr Evans said the investigations were being dealt with separately but added that “officers will be seeking to establish both the credibility of the threats, and whether there was any connection between the alleged offenses”. Dyfed-Powys Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn previously said: “My thoughts go out to all those affected, including the pupils, teachers, and staff who were involved or witnessed this terrifying ordeal.

Our thoughts are also with the families and friends of those injured. “I want to commend those at the scene that ensured that the situation was brought under control and the emergency services who attended to safeguard the scene and reassure the public.

“I want to assure the public that the police investigation is ongoing, and that Officers and staff will work tirelessly to understand the circumstances surrounding this incident.
